BERSABEA<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

La imagen que la tradici\u00f3n divulga es la de una ciudad de oro macizo, con pernos de plata y puertas de diamante, una ciudad joya, toda taraceas y engarces, como puede resultar del estudio m\u00e1s laborioso aplicado a las materias m\u00e1s apreciadas. Fieles a esta creencia, los habitantes de Bersabea honran todo lo que les evoca la ciudad celeste: acumulan metales nobles y piedras raras, renuncian a los abandonos ef\u00edmeros, elaboran formas de compuesto decoro.<\/p>\n

Creen empero estos habitantes que otra Bersabea existe bajo tierra, recept\u00e1culo de todo lo que tienen miedo despreciable e indigno, y es constante su preocupaci\u00f3n por borrar de la Bersabea de fuera todo v\u00ednculo o semejanza con la bestia inferior. En lugar de los techos imaginan que haya en la ciudad baja cajones de basura volcados, de los que se desprenden cortezas de queso, papeles engrasados, agua de platos, restos de\u00a0 <\/span>deos, viejas ventas.<\/p>\n

SMERALDINA<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

En Smeraldina, ciudad acu\u00e1tica, una ret\u00edcula de canales y una ret\u00edcula de calles se superponen y se entrecruzan. Para ir de un lugar a otro siempre puedes elegir entre el recorrido terrestre y el recorrido en barca, y como la l\u00ednea m\u00e1s breve entre dos puntos en Smeraldina no es una recta sino un zigzag que se ramica en tortuosas variantes, los calles que se abren a cada transe\u00fante no son solo dos sino muchas, y aumentan a\u00fan m\u00e1s para quien alterna trayectos en barca y transbordos a tierra\u00a0 <\/span>rme. As\u00ed el tedio de recorrer cada d\u00eda las mismas calles es ahorrado a los habitantes de Smeraldina. Y eso no es todo: la red de pasajes no se dispone en un solo estrato, sino que sea un subibaja de escalerillas, galer\u00edas, puentes convexos, calles suspendidas. Combinando sectores de los diversos trayectos sobreelevados o de super cie, cada habitante se permite cada d\u00eda la distracci\u00f3n de un nuevo itinerario para ir a los mismos lugares.<\/p>\n
